I care deeply about my data and personal privacy, and I believe you do too.

I recently bought this machine, tested the complete workflow, and built my own local AI. The result is powerful, practical, and genuinely useful.

For many of us, “private AI” still means trusting a company’s privacy page and hoping the important details are clear.

We give AI our rough ideas, private documents, business plans, research notes, client information, and questions we may not ask anywhere else.

That creates an uncomfortable trade-off.

We want AI to understand more about our work. But the more context we provide, the more information we may send beyond our own computers.

I care about that trade-off, and I believe many of you do too.

That is why I recently bought an Apple M6 Mac and tried to build something I had wanted for a long time: a useful AI that could run locally, search my private documents, and support my daily work without depending on the cloud for every task.

I installed a local model, connected a private knowledge base, and built a Research and Writing workflow.

It was not a frontier model running inside a tiny box. That would be an unrealistic claim.

But it was private, fast, customizable, and genuinely useful.

For many of us, “private AI” still means trusting a company’s privacy page and hoping the important details are clear.

Now there is another option.

You can begin building an AI workspace that runs on a Mac sitting on your own desk.

This guide builds that complete system with Ollama, Open WebUI, Qwen 3.5, and a private Research and Writing workspace...
