We're excited to share that Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) for CockroachDB is now generally available across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

BYOC gives you the best of both models: the CockroachDB infrastructure runs inside your own cloud account, and Cockroach Labs operates the database service for you. You keep control of where your infrastructure and data live – your account, your cloud commitments, your network environment, your data residency – while our team handles provisioning, patching, upgrades, monitoring, backups, and automated recovery.

Who this is built for

BYOC is designed for teams with requirements that a vendor-owned cloud account can't easily meet:

Cloud commitments: run CockroachDB against your existing AWS, Azure, or GCP spend

Data locality and residency: keep data in accounts and regions you control

Procurement and internal policy: satisfy governance that requires infrastructure in your own account

Private connectivity: connect over PrivateLink and equivalent private endpoints, with application traffic that never transits Cockroach Labs

What you get

It's the fully managed CockroachDB experience you'd expect from CockroachDB Advanced — same operational model, same availability commitments (99.99% single-region, 99.999% multi-region), with the data plane running in your account. Your applications connect to a load-balanced SQL endpoint inside your own environment. We run the service through a scoped, auditable cross-account identity, and you retain the ability to see and control that access.
