Bring Your Own Encryption Key

Connect your own AWS KMS or GCP Cloud KMS key and Scalr uses envelope encryption to ensure sensitive data cannot be read without a call to your key management service. Configured under Account Settings → Security → Encryption. Supports OIDC for keyless credential management. Available on the Enterprise plan. Learn more

Registries

Private Provider Registry

Host, version, and distribute custom or internal Terraform and OpenTofu providers that are not in the public registry. Implements the Terraform Provider Registry Protocol so providers install via the standard CLI with no manual binary management. Admins can publish under Account Settings → Registry. Users with providers:read can browse versions and copy ready-to-use configuration snippets. Learn more

Publish modules from an OCI registry

Publish modules to the Scalr Private Module Registry from an OCI registry. No Git required. Connect an OCI registry integration, point a module at an artifact path, and Scalr indexes every tag and polls for new versions on schedule or via resync. Supports the same README, inputs, outputs, resources, and no-code workspace experience as VCS-backed modules. Learn more

Docker-compatible registry integrations for OCI modules

Store credentials for OCI module sources including Docker Hub, GitHub Container Registry, GitLab Container Registry, and JFrog. When export_credentials is enabled, Scalr injects credentials into plan and apply runs so Terraform and OpenTofu can authenticate when fetching OCI modules. Learn more

Auto-trigger test runs on pull requests

Module test runs now trigger automatically when a PR is opened or updated against the default branch. Scalr reports the result back as a commit status check, giving reviewers immediate feedback without manually triggering a run from the UI. Enable under Modules → select a module → Testing → Settings. Learn more

Variables and runs

Variable sets

Define shared variables once in a set, link it to many workspaces, and updates propagate everywhere. Precedence follows account → environment → variable sets → workspace → run. When two linked sets define the same key, the set whose name sorts first alphabetically wins. Currently available via the API only. Learn more

Terragrunt

Terragrunt 1.0.0 support

Scalr now supports Terragrunt 1.0.0. No changes required for existing configurations on previously supported versions.
