In this Canny Update we’re exploring new functionality in Canny’s MCP server for ChatGPT and Claude. We’ll also look at updates to status syncing, and better Autopilot visibility.

🤖 Do more with your Canny data in AI tools

ChatGPT and Claude can now access portal data alongside idea data via the MCP server for richer context.

We’ve also added two new tools to expand what's accessible:

List Insights surfaces the insights tied to an idea

List Idea Comments pulls the comments on an idea

You can also now merge ideas directly via the MCP server. This makes it easier to deduplicate and organize feedback without leaving your AI workflow.

The MCP server is available on the Pro plan and above for teams in the Ideas beta.

🔁 Keep statuses in sync with your PM tool

Status syncing now works in both directions for Asana, GitHub, Jira, ClickUp, and Linear. Update an idea’s status in Canny and it reflects in your linked task. Update it in your project management tool and the idea in Canny updates too.

This feature is available to all teams in the Ideas beta.

🔄 Map internal idea statuses to portal statuses

In Ideas, there are two types of statuses:

Idea status - this is internal only, to keep your team up to date

Portal status - this is visible to end users

This lets your team stay more granular internally while keeping public updates high-level.

You can now map your internal idea statuses to portal statuses. Define your mappings once, and status updates sync automatically in both directions.

This pairs well with two-way status syncing with your project management tool. Together, this means status changes in your PM tool, Ideas, or Portal will update everywhere.

This feature is available to all teams in the Ideas beta.

🔍 See which chats Autopilot reviewed

autopilot-no-feedback

Autopilot now shows which calls and conversations were processed where no feedback was found.

This makes it easier to track Autopilot’s activity and see reasoning for why no feedback was captured. The “View original” button takes you to the source call or conversation.

This feature is available on all plans.
