Testing out Jottacloud as a replacement for Backblaze B2 (secondary cloud backup) as it could be cheaper for my needs as well as add GUI backup option. I like the idea of having data with a European company in Europe too.

Google drive account locked

I suggested to a friend to use rclone to download a lot of files they needed to get from their client’s Google Drive. The problem is that the folder was very large (60 GB). The sync ran well for the first minutes. Then, I got a lot of 401 errors. And now, the Google account is locked, flagged as “used to trespass Google rules or created by/for a bot”.

A quick sidenote: I’m pretty much a coding noob and used Claude Opus and Gemini Pro to help me build my daily backup script for Cronicle. We somehow managed to figure this workaround out together. I'm not 100% sure if this is a genuine bug in the rclone pipeline or if I just missed a specific setting, but the local-crypt workaround is doing the job perfectly for me now. I just wanted to report this in case it helps others or points to something that needs fixing!
