Hi John,

As their automation scope grew, Susie realized something: not every user wants the same emails. Some want newsletters. Others only care about product updates. Sending everything to everyone just created noise.

So Susie added subscription topics.

Now users could choose what they wanted to hear about — onboarding tips, feature updates, or best practices. Her emails became more relevant, unsubscribes dropped, and engagement improved.

When clicking unsubscribe, users could now see their preference center:

Some messages, like privacy policy updates, could be sent to the entire user base including unsubscribed users — by using internal topics.

Susie’s engineering team was delighted that they could sync subscription preferences via API.
