## What changes in the design workflow

Brew takes brand context and a prompt to create an email, then supports visual edits and agent revisions. It also imports existing HTML, screenshots, and Figma designs. Compare the output using your actual logo, type, links, and required footer.

Customer.io offers four editors. Design Studio is the newest: a block-based visual editor with HTML and CSS access, reusable components, global styles, and AI tools for keeping messages on brand. The drag-and-drop, rich text, and code editors remain for teams that prefer them. Decide based on the edits your team makes repeatedly.

## Events and follow-ups

Both tools respond to product events. Customer.io also triggers automations when a person enters a segment and models relationships between people and objects such as accounts. Map the exact event name, recipient, properties, and duplicate-delivery behavior before publishing a flow in either tool.

In a Brew event-triggered automation, payload fields retain their original values after a wait, and a contact.<field> condition reads the current Brew contact when that node runs. Review the corresponding Customer.io behavior and test conversion during a delay rather than assuming identical semantics.

## What to test before switching

Recreate one existing email, send it to test inboxes, and review mobile rendering, links, personalization, and unsubscribe behavior. Then test an event-driven sequence with an activated, unactivated, and unsubscribed contact.

Keep the original system responsible for live sends until the replacement passes those checks. Migration also includes contact consent, suppression records, domain setup, and any active workflow runs; copying HTML alone does not transfer those records.

## What you get with Brew

- Generate email layouts and copy from a prompt and brand context.
- Edit the result visually or ask the agent for a revision.
- Use supported integrations, the API, or MCP to work with email and automations.

## Pricing

- **Brew**: Free tier available, paid plans from $99/mo (Growth) and $249/mo (Pro)
- **Customer.io**: Essentials, Standard, Premium, and Enterprise tiers, billed on the maximum number of profiles. Essentials starts at 5,000 profiles and 1 million emails per month. Early-stage companies that have raised under $10M can apply for a year free.
AI credit usage and email sending allowances are separate. Check current limits on the pricing page.
Message overages are billed separately, and new accounts are reviewed before outbound sending is enabled.

## Verdict

Choose Brew if generating and revising branded email is the bottleneck and email is your main channel. Choose Customer.io if you need one engagement platform across email, SMS, push, and in-app, with a profile-and-object data model behind it. Test one campaign and one event-triggered flow in both before migrating.
