# Brew vs Stensul

## The short version

Choose Brew if you want a fully agentic setup, where your AI agent drives lifecycle marketing to engage and retain customers. Brew designs every email from your brand and runs your automations agentically.

Choose Stensul if legal, brand and compliance reviewers sign off every email and landing page, and you send from Salesforce, Adobe or Oracle and intend to keep it.

## Why teams switch from Stensul to Brew

Brew is fully agentic: your agent designs on-brand emails, sends them and runs your automations. In Stensul, AI drafts inside your templates and another platform sends them.

## Your agent runs your lifecycle email.

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Grok over MCP and your agent gets every Brew tool. It designs emails from your brand, builds audiences, runs automations and schedules sends. OAuth and organization-scoped MCP connections ask you to confirm live sends and launches. Brand-scoped API keys can execute permitted calls without the MCP confirmation step.

## Every email designed from your brand.

Paste your website and Brew writes your brand into two files your agent reads for every email. Describe the email and it appears on the canvas, ready to edit by hand or in chat.

## Moving from Stensul

Keep your current setup sending until Brew passes your tests. We’ll do the move with you on a call if you like.

1. **Bring your templates**: Download the HTML of each Stensul email you want to keep, as you would for a platform without an integration. Import the HTML into Brew, or have Brew redesign the email from your brand, which is faster and looks better. Imports are free.
2. **Set up your brand**: Paste your website and Brew writes your brand into two files your agent reads for every email.
3. **Import your contacts**: Export your contacts as a CSV from the email platform you send with today and import them into Brew. Brew’s import shows who opted out before it runs. Before importing, prepare a Subscribed column: true for opted-in contacts, false for unsubscribed, cleaned or suppressed contacts. Invert any Unsubscribed true/false flag first. Map the column to Subscribed and review the opt-out preview; new contacts default to subscribed if this value is missing.
4. **Connect your sending domain**: Connect and verify your sending domain, then review its health and inbox placement. For a new domain, select Gradual send to ramp the campaign in configurable batches before a large send. Gradual send is off by default; connecting a domain does not automatically warm it up.

## Questions

### Is Brew a good Stensul alternative?

Yes, if you want one tool that designs and sends. Brew designs finished, on-brand emails from your brand, sends them from your own domain and runs your automations from your AI agent, with unlimited contacts on every plan. Brew has no approval routing, translation management or landing pages, so teams that need those keep a separate tool for them.

### Can I use Brew alongside Stensul?

Yes. Teams whose reviewers already work in Stensul can keep building there, download the HTML and import it into Brew to send it and put it in automations. Or design in Brew and export HTML, or save the email as a template straight into Braze, HubSpot, Klaviyo and the other platforms Brew connects to.

### How is Brew’s agent different from Stensul AI?

In Brew, your agent designs the finished email from brand files it reads every time, builds audiences, runs automations and sends. Stensul AI turns a brief into a first draft inside your approved templates and writes subject lines, preheaders and body copy. Its MCP server, in early access, lets agents in tools like Claude build emails from approved modules, which then go to your reviewers and export to your email platform.
OAuth and organization-scoped MCP connections ask you to confirm live sends and launches. Brand-scoped API keys can execute permitted calls without the MCP confirmation step.

### Do Stensul’s AI emails come out on-brand?

They stay inside the templates your team set up, so locked fonts, colors and modules hold. Stensul calls the result a first draft: the layout is the template your team built, and reviewers still sign it off before it is exported. Teams that move to Brew tell us these drafts rarely look like their brand, so someone still redesigns them. Brew designs the whole email, layout, copy and images, from brand files your agent reads every time, so it goes out on-brand.

### Will Brew cost more or less than Stensul?

Stensul lists no prices: its Growth, Team, Business and Enterprise packages are quoted on your integrations, teams, brands and workflows, and you pay for an email platform as well to send. Brew’s prices are public, it bills on sends and AI credits with unlimited contacts, and one plan covers design and sending. Start with the free trial and compare at your own numbers.

### Do I still need an email platform with Brew?

No. Brew sends marketing and transactional email from your own domain, runs your automations and holds your contacts, with unlimited contacts on every plan. Stensul is not an email platform, so with it you export each email to the platform that sends it.

### Does Brew do landing pages and approval routing?

No. Brew is email only, with comments on each email for team feedback but no approval routing or translation management. Teams that need landing pages or formal sign-off keep a tool like Stensul for them.

### Is Brew SOC 2 certified?

Not yet. We complete security reviews and sign a DPA on request, and our privacy policy, DPA, GDPR page and subprocessor list are public at docs.brew.new/legal.

### How long does it take to move from Stensul?

Your first on-brand email is ready the day you start the trial. The rest depends on how many templates you keep: download each one from Stensul as HTML and import it, or have Brew redesign it from your brand, and bring your contacts as a CSV from your current email platform. Keep your current setup sending until Brew passes your tests.

### Do you help with the move?

Yes. We get on a call to import your contacts and unsubscribe list, bring over or redesign your emails, rebuild your flows and connect your sending domain.
