# ChatGPT + Brew

The best-known AI assistant, and what changes when it can design, send and automate your email.

Canonical: https://brew.new/compare/chatgpt-email-marketing

## The short version

Use ChatGPT on its own to brainstorm campaigns, write copy and send the odd email from your own Gmail or Outlook.

Connect ChatGPT to Brew and it designs on-brand emails, sends them from your domain to your list and runs your automations, with you approving every send.

## ChatGPT alone vs ChatGPT + Brew

### Key differences

| | ChatGPT alone | ChatGPT + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Designs finished, on-brand emails | Partly: Writes copy and generates images; you design the email | Layout, copy and images from your brand, ready to send |
| Renders correctly in every inbox | Previews HTML pages; nothing on email clients | Email-safe HTML, with inbox rendering tests |
| Sends from your own domain | Partly: One email at a time from your own Gmail or Outlook | From your verified domain, once you approve |
| Keeps contacts, audiences and unsubscribes | No contact list, audiences or opt-outs | Unlimited contacts, audiences and opt-outs in one place |
| Runs automations from your product’s events | Cannot trigger emails from signups or purchases | Stripe, Shopify, Clerk, Supabase or your own events |
| Shows what happened after you send | No opens, clicks or inbox placement data | Opens, clicks and inbox placement tests |

### Working on emails

| | ChatGPT alone | ChatGPT + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Writes and rewrites email copy | Drafts and rewrites copy in writing blocks | Your assistant writes; Brew keeps it on-brand |
| Plans campaigns and lifecycle flows | Plans campaigns and flows in chat | Then builds them as live automations |
| Remembers your brand for every email | Partly: Memory, instructions and Projects hold brand notes | Brand files your agent reads every time |
| Edit the design by hand | Partly: Edit the text it writes, not a layout | Infinite canvas, by hand or in chat |
| Work on emails as a team | Partly: Shared Projects on paid plans | Unlimited seats and comments on every email |

### Sending and compliance

| | ChatGPT alone | ChatGPT + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Unsubscribe links and suppression | Nothing to add or honor unsubscribes | Opt-outs honored on every send |
| Domain health and gradual sending | No sending domain to set up or warm up | Domain checks, plus Gradual send for new domains |

### Pricing

| | ChatGPT alone | ChatGPT + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What it costs | Business $25/user a month ($20 billed yearly) for apps that write | Brew from $99/month: 10,000 AI credits and 50,000 sends |

## What ChatGPT does well on its own

- Writes and rewrites email copy, subject lines and preheaders in editable writing blocks.
- Generates and edits images, and keeps brand notes in memory, custom instructions and Projects.
- Reads your Gmail or Outlook and, on Plus and above, drafts and sends single emails from your own mailbox.
- Runs scheduled tasks, and its cloud browser can click through websites on paid plans.

## Where ChatGPT stops

- It writes the email, but it does not design a finished, branded layout or test how it renders in Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail.
- It sends one email at a time from your personal mailbox: no contact list, audiences, unsubscribes or sending domain.
- It cannot trigger an email when someone signs up, buys or churns, and it sees no opens or clicks afterwards.

## What it costs

ChatGPT Business costs $25 per user a month, or $20 billed yearly, and is where OpenAI documents apps that write. Plus is $20 a month and Pro starts at $100.

Brew is billed on emails sent and AI credits, with unlimited contacts on every plan: a free trial with 500 AI credits and 1,000 sends, then Growth at $99/month for 10,000 AI credits and 50,000 sends.

## Connect ChatGPT to Brew

OpenAI documents apps that write, like sending a campaign, on ChatGPT Business and Enterprise, in beta. Pro gets read-only access in developer mode.

1. **Sign in to Brew and pick a brand.** Start a free trial, paste your website so Brew writes your brand files, and connect your sending domain.
2. **Turn on developer mode.** On Business, an admin turns it on under Settings → Apps → Advanced settings. On Enterprise, an admin grants it first.
3. **Add Brew as an app.** Go to Settings → Apps → Create, enter https://brew.new/api/mcp, choose OAuth, scan the tools and sign in to Brew.
4. **Ask ChatGPT for an email.** Start a new chat with Brew enabled and describe the email or flow. ChatGPT asks you to confirm before anything is sent.

## Your agent runs your lifecycle email.

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Grok over MCP and your agent gets every Brew tool. It designs emails from your brand, builds audiences, runs automations and schedules sends. OAuth and organization-scoped MCP connections ask you to confirm live sends and launches. Brand-scoped API keys can execute permitted calls without the MCP confirmation step.

## Every email designed from your brand.

Paste your website and Brew writes your brand into two files your agent reads for every email. Describe the email and it appears on the canvas, ready to edit by hand or in chat.

## Questions

### Can ChatGPT do email marketing on its own?

Partly. ChatGPT can brainstorm campaigns, write copy and send the odd email from your own Gmail or Outlook. On its own it does not design a finished, on-brand email, hold your contacts, send from your domain or run automations.

### Can ChatGPT send marketing emails?

Not marketing email. Since June 2026 ChatGPT can draft and send single emails from your own Gmail or Outlook on Plus and above, but it has no contact list, unsubscribes or sending domain.
Connected to Brew, ChatGPT sends campaigns from your own domain to your audiences, with unsubscribes handled, after you approve.

### How do I connect ChatGPT to Brew?

OpenAI documents apps that write, like sending a campaign, on ChatGPT Business and Enterprise, in beta. Pro gets read-only access in developer mode. Turn on developer mode: On Business, an admin turns it on under Settings → Apps → Advanced settings. On Enterprise, an admin grants it first. Add Brew as an app: Go to Settings → Apps → Create, enter https://brew.new/api/mcp, choose OAuth, scan the tools and sign in to Brew. Ask ChatGPT for an email: Start a new chat with Brew enabled and describe the email or flow. ChatGPT asks you to confirm before anything is sent.

### Which ChatGPT plan do I need for Brew?

Business or Enterprise. OpenAI documents apps that can write, like sending an email through Brew, on those plans, in beta. On Pro, developer mode gives read-only access, and OpenAI does not say Plus gets write access.

### Do ChatGPT’s emails come out on-brand?

ChatGPT writes good copy, but on its own it does not design the email from your brand. Brew does: it writes your brand into files your agent reads for every email, then designs the layout, copy and images and tests how it renders.

### Does ChatGPT send anything without my approval?

No. Over OAuth, Brew asks you to confirm before anything is sent or goes live, so the assistant drafts and you approve.

### What does it cost?

ChatGPT Business costs $25 per user a month, or $20 billed yearly, and is where OpenAI documents apps that write. Plus is $20 a month and Pro starts at $100. Brew is billed on emails sent and AI credits, with unlimited contacts on every plan: a free trial with 500 AI credits and 1,000 sends, then Growth at $99/month for 10,000 AI credits and 50,000 sends.
