# Cursor + Brew

For developers who live in their editor, and want their product emails to look as good as the product.

Canonical: https://brew.new/compare/cursor-email-marketing

## The short version

Use Cursor on its own to write email templates as code, generate images into your project and keep brand notes in Rules.

Connect Cursor to Brew and it designs on-brand emails, sends them from your domain to your list and runs your automations, with you approving every send.

## Cursor alone vs Cursor + Brew

### Key differences

| | Cursor alone | Cursor + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Designs finished, on-brand emails | Partly: Writes HTML templates as code; you design them | Layout, copy and images from your brand, ready to send |
| Renders correctly in every inbox | Its browser is not an inbox; nothing on email clients | Email-safe HTML, with inbox rendering tests |
| Sends from your own domain | No email sending | From your verified domain, once you approve |
| Keeps contacts, audiences and unsubscribes | No contact list, audiences or opt-outs | Unlimited contacts, audiences and opt-outs in one place |
| Runs automations from your product’s events | Partly: Automations run agents; nothing sends email | Stripe, Shopify, Clerk, Supabase or your own events |
| Shows what happened after you send | No opens, clicks or inbox placement data | Opens, clicks and inbox placement tests |

### Working on emails

| | Cursor alone | Cursor + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Writes and rewrites email copy | Writes copy and templates into your project | Your assistant writes; Brew keeps it on-brand |
| Plans campaigns and lifecycle flows | Plans flows alongside your code | Then builds them as live automations |
| Remembers your brand for every email | Partly: Rules hold brand notes | Brand files your agent reads every time |
| Edit the design by hand | Partly: Edit the code, not a visual layout | Infinite canvas, by hand or in chat |
| Work on emails as a team | Partly: Team rules and shared MCP servers | Unlimited seats and comments on every email |

### Sending and compliance

| | Cursor alone | Cursor + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Unsubscribe links and suppression | Nothing to add or honor unsubscribes | Opt-outs honored on every send |
| Domain health and gradual sending | No sending domain to set up or warm up | Domain checks, plus Gradual send for new domains |

### Pricing

| | Cursor alone | Cursor + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What it costs | MCP on every plan; Premium $30 a month | Brew from $99/month: 10,000 AI credits and 50,000 sends |

## What Cursor does well on its own

- Writes email copy and HTML templates straight into your codebase, next to the code that sends them.
- Generates images into your project and keeps brand notes in Rules.
- Automations run cloud agents on a schedule or on events from GitHub, Slack or webhooks, from Premium.

## Where Cursor stops

- Its browser checks web pages, not inboxes: Cursor says nothing about how HTML renders in Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail.
- It cannot send email, hold a contact list or handle unsubscribes on its own.
- Templates are code your team maintains, rather than designs from your brand that anyone can edit.

## What it costs

Cursor’s MCP docs name no plan. Cursor is now sold through the X Subscription: Free, Plus at $8 a month, and Premium at $30 with cloud agents and Automations.

Brew is billed on emails sent and AI credits, with unlimited contacts on every plan: a free trial with 500 AI credits and 1,000 sends, then Growth at $99/month for 10,000 AI credits and 50,000 sends.

## Connect Cursor to Brew

Cursor connects to remote MCP servers in the editor and the CLI, with no plan named in its MCP docs.

1. **Sign in to Brew and pick a brand.** Start a free trial, paste your website so Brew writes your brand files, and connect your sending domain.
2. **Add Brew to mcp.json.** Add "brew" with the URL https://brew.new/api/mcp to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or to .cursor/mcp.json in your project.
3. **Sign in.** Open Customize, make sure Brew is on and sign in when Cursor runs the OAuth flow.
4. **Ask the Agent.** Ask for the email or flow. Cursor asks before each MCP tool call by default, and Brew asks before anything sends.

## Your agent runs your lifecycle email.

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Grok over MCP and your agent gets every Brew tool. It designs emails from your brand, builds audiences, runs automations and schedules sends. OAuth and organization-scoped MCP connections ask you to confirm live sends and launches. Brand-scoped API keys can execute permitted calls without the MCP confirmation step.

## Every email designed from your brand.

Paste your website and Brew writes your brand into two files your agent reads for every email. Describe the email and it appears on the canvas, ready to edit by hand or in chat.

## Questions

### Can Cursor do email marketing on its own?

Partly. Cursor can write email templates as code, generate images into your project and keep brand notes in Rules. On its own it does not design a finished, on-brand email, hold your contacts, send from your domain or run automations.

### Can Cursor send marketing emails?

No. Cursor can write email templates as code, but it does not send email, hold contacts or handle unsubscribes.
Connected to Brew, Cursor sends campaigns from your own domain to your audiences, with unsubscribes handled, after you approve.

### How do I connect Cursor to Brew?

Cursor connects to remote MCP servers in the editor and the CLI, with no plan named in its MCP docs. Add Brew to mcp.json: Add "brew" with the URL https://brew.new/api/mcp to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or to .cursor/mcp.json in your project. Sign in: Open Customize, make sure Brew is on and sign in when Cursor runs the OAuth flow. Ask the Agent: Ask for the email or flow. Cursor asks before each MCP tool call by default, and Brew asks before anything sends.

### Which Cursor plan do I need for Brew?

Cursor’s MCP docs name no plan requirement. Cloud agents and Automations, which can run Brew in the background, start at Premium ($30 a month).

### Do Cursor’s emails come out on-brand?

Cursor writes good copy, but on its own it does not design the email from your brand. Brew does: it writes your brand into files your agent reads for every email, then designs the layout, copy and images and tests how it renders.

### Does Cursor send anything without my approval?

No. Over OAuth, Brew asks you to confirm before anything is sent or goes live, so the assistant drafts and you approve.

### What does it cost?

Cursor’s MCP docs name no plan. Cursor is now sold through the X Subscription: Free, Plus at $8 a month, and Premium at $30 with cloud agents and Automations. Brew is billed on emails sent and AI credits, with unlimited contacts on every plan: a free trial with 500 AI credits and 1,000 sends, then Growth at $99/month for 10,000 AI credits and 50,000 sends.
