# Perplexity + Brew

The research assistant, and what changes when its findings can become on-brand emails.

Canonical: https://brew.new/compare/perplexity-email-marketing

## The short version

Use Perplexity on its own to research your market, draft copy with citations and send the odd email from your own Gmail.

Connect Perplexity to Brew and it designs on-brand emails, sends them from your domain to your list and runs your automations, with you approving every send.

## Perplexity alone vs Perplexity + Brew

### Key differences

| | Perplexity alone | Perplexity + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Designs finished, on-brand emails | Partly: Writes copy; images are non-commercial outside Enterprise | Layout, copy and images from your brand, ready to send |
| Renders correctly in every inbox | Perplexity says nothing on email-client rendering | Email-safe HTML, with inbox rendering tests |
| Sends from your own domain | Partly: One email at a time from your own Gmail | From your verified domain, once you approve |
| Keeps contacts, audiences and unsubscribes | No contact list, audiences or opt-outs | Unlimited contacts, audiences and opt-outs in one place |
| Runs automations from your product’s events | Cannot trigger emails from signups or purchases | Stripe, Shopify, Clerk, Supabase or your own events |
| Shows what happened after you send | No opens, clicks or inbox placement data | Opens, clicks and inbox placement tests |

### Working on emails

| | Perplexity alone | Perplexity + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Writes and rewrites email copy | Drafts copy, with sources, in answers | Your assistant writes; Brew keeps it on-brand |
| Plans campaigns and lifecycle flows | Researches and plans campaigns | Then builds them as live automations |
| Remembers your brand for every email | Partly: Project instructions hold brand notes | Brand files your agent reads every time |
| Edit the design by hand | Partly: Edit the text it writes, not a layout | Infinite canvas, by hand or in chat |
| Work on emails as a team | Partly: Enterprise Pro and Max | Unlimited seats and comments on every email |

### Sending and compliance

| | Perplexity alone | Perplexity + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Unsubscribe links and suppression | Nothing to add or honor unsubscribes | Opt-outs honored on every send |
| Domain health and gradual sending | No sending domain to set up or warm up | Domain checks, plus Gradual send for new domains |

### Pricing

| | Perplexity alone | Perplexity + Brew |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What it costs | Pro $17 a month billed yearly; Max $200 | Brew from $99/month: 10,000 AI credits and 50,000 sends |

## What Perplexity does well on its own

- Researches your market and competitors with citations, and drafts copy from what it finds.
- Projects carry up to 8,000 characters of instructions, so your brand notes apply to every question.
- The Gmail connector reads, composes and sends from your own account, and Automations run on a schedule or on events.

## Where Perplexity stops

- Images it makes on Free, Pro and Max are for personal, non-commercial use, so they cannot go in marketing emails outside Enterprise.
- It sends from your personal mailbox: no contact list, audiences, unsubscribes or sending domain.
- Perplexity says nothing about HTML email or how it renders in email clients.

## What it costs

Perplexity Pro is $17 a month billed yearly, and Max is $200 a month. Custom connectors are not on the free plan.

Brew is billed on emails sent and AI credits, with unlimited contacts on every plan: a free trial with 500 AI credits and 1,000 sends, then Growth at $99/month for 10,000 AI credits and 50,000 sends.

## Connect Perplexity to Brew

Perplexity Pro, Max and Enterprise connect to custom remote MCP servers, in conversations and in Computer.

1. **Sign in to Brew and pick a brand.** Start a free trial, paste your website so Brew writes your brand files, and connect your sending domain.
2. **Open Connectors.** Go to Account settings → Connectors, click + Custom connector and choose Remote.
3. **Add Brew.** Name it Brew, enter https://brew.new/api/mcp, choose OAuth, accept the custom-connector notice and click Add, then click the card to sign in.
4. **Ask Perplexity for an email.** Describe the email or flow. Perplexity asks you to approve consequential writes, and Brew asks before anything sends.

## Your agent runs your lifecycle email.

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Grok over MCP and your agent gets every Brew tool. It designs emails from your brand, builds audiences, runs automations and schedules sends. OAuth and organization-scoped MCP connections ask you to confirm live sends and launches. Brand-scoped API keys can execute permitted calls without the MCP confirmation step.

## Every email designed from your brand.

Paste your website and Brew writes your brand into two files your agent reads for every email. Describe the email and it appears on the canvas, ready to edit by hand or in chat.

## Questions

### Can Perplexity do email marketing on its own?

Partly. Perplexity can research your market, draft copy with citations and send the odd email from your own Gmail. On its own it does not design a finished, on-brand email, hold your contacts, send from your domain or run automations.

### Can Perplexity send marketing emails?

Not marketing email. The Gmail connector composes and sends from your own account, but Perplexity has no contact list, unsubscribes or sending domain.
Connected to Brew, Perplexity sends campaigns from your own domain to your audiences, with unsubscribes handled, after you approve.

### How do I connect Perplexity to Brew?

Perplexity Pro, Max and Enterprise connect to custom remote MCP servers, in conversations and in Computer. Open Connectors: Go to Account settings → Connectors, click + Custom connector and choose Remote. Add Brew: Name it Brew, enter https://brew.new/api/mcp, choose OAuth, accept the custom-connector notice and click Add, then click the card to sign in. Ask Perplexity for an email: Describe the email or flow. Perplexity asks you to approve consequential writes, and Brew asks before anything sends.

### Which Perplexity plan do I need for Brew?

Pro, Max or Enterprise. Perplexity’s free plan does not include connectors. In an Enterprise organization, an admin enables custom connectors for members.

### Do Perplexity’s emails come out on-brand?

Perplexity writes good copy, but on its own it does not design the email from your brand. Brew does: it writes your brand into files your agent reads for every email, then designs the layout, copy and images and tests how it renders.

### Does Perplexity send anything without my approval?

No. Over OAuth, Brew asks you to confirm before anything is sent or goes live, so the assistant drafts and you approve.

### What does it cost?

Perplexity Pro is $17 a month billed yearly, and Max is $200 a month. Custom connectors are not on the free plan. Brew is billed on emails sent and AI credits, with unlimited contacts on every plan: a free trial with 500 AI credits and 1,000 sends, then Growth at $99/month for 10,000 AI credits and 50,000 sends.
