Fly.io Newsletter

Hi folks,

Last time we wrote, we doubled down on our commitment to Computers for Agents. It's true that with Sprites and Machines, you've got the perfect places to run your agents and the things they build.

But our vision of the perfect computer for agents can't be limited to the infra it's built on. If we want all of you to use Sprites as much as we do, they have to feel like they're always within arms reach. They have to plug straight into where and how you want to work, and they have to make it easier to run agents that are connected to all the tools and services that make them so powerful.

We've done a ton of work on that this month, introducing an entire menu of new plugins and support for more harnesses, agents and SDKs.

All agents welcome

Here's a sneak peek of what's available right now. We're working fast enough on this stuff that this will probably be out of date when you read it, so check this out for the full menu.

Harness plugins: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Antigravity, Grok Build, Cortex Code, DeepSeek, OpenCode, and Pi. Mostly one install plus a browser OAuth, and most ship MCP tools and skills, several with hooks and slash commands on top.

VS Code has an extension that mounts a Sprite's filesystem straight into your workspace, so the Sprite is just a folder you are editing.

Four official SDKs: Python (pip install sprites-py), JavaScript (npm install @fly/sprites), Go (go get github.com/superfly/sprites-go), and now Elixir ({:sprites, "~> 0.2"}, because obviously).

Framework adapters: Google ADK gets sandboxes as agent tools with checkpoint and restore (pip install sprites-adk), and the OpenAI Agents SDK can run a whole agent's tool calls inside a Sprite (pip install sprites-openai-agents).

Native support is our favourite, because other people did the work that we just got to applaud: TanStack AI ships Sprites as a sandbox provider, and Claude Managed Agents has Anthropic running the agent loop while every tool call executes inside a Sprite that belongs to you.

Don't see a plugin for your agent yet? Stress less. Just point any MCP client at https://sprites.dev/mcp and you're good to go.

SBD private beta is here

So many of you have signed up for the SBD private beta that it has become genuinely painful to hold it back until we are certain it's ready.

We've been running SBD Sprites as our daily drivers for weeks now, pushing them so hard we actually feel a little sorry for them. That relentless dogfooding has achieved exactly what it was supposed to, though, and SBD is officially entering private beta!

We'll be rolling it out to everyone who has requested access ASAP, so keep an eye on your inbox.

First time you're hearing about SBD? In short, the Sprites Block Device is the new Sprites storage layer. SBD hands an S3 bucket to the Linux kernel as a block device and runs an ordinary ext4 filesystem on top. All to say: your Sprite's disk is object storage that the kernel sees as a disk.

Built something unhinged on a Sprite with a harness we've never heard of? Wired one into something on this list? Hit reply and tell us. We appreciate praise and bug reports roughly equally.

Thanks,

The Fly.io Team
