Hi folks,

It's hard to know where to even start with this one. We have big news from pretty much every corner of Fly City. We don't have time for a witty prelude, so let's dive right in.

Computers for Agents

Everything you'll read below is happening because we have decided to laser focus on a vision we've been trying to define and materialise for a while now. We're building Computers for Agents!

WTF does that even mean? It will not be news to anyone reading this that agents have changed how software gets built and shipped, and we're still just in the early days. We think that if you want an agent that actually does anything valuable, whose utility is directly tied to its ability to self-iterate, an ephemeral sandbox is a silly place to run that.

Real persistence, real statefulness and not having to configure any of that yourself when you want a new home for an agent, is what we consider to be the bare minimum for an agent's home in 2026.

And so … all of this happened:

Scott Johnston is our new CEO

Yep, Kurt has spent the last few months searching for someone he can trust to take the Flywheel 😉. Someone who genuinely believes in our Computers for Agents vision and who isn't concerned by how weird we are.

It's Kurt, so of course he found the right person: Scott Johnston. For a little over a decade, Scott ran Docker. You may have heard of it if you keep close tabs on dev tools. He guided it through its developer-vs-enterprise years and brought it out the other side at the scale it is now.

There's no way we're letting Kurt leave the village though. He's going to stick around as an advisor and board member, parachuting into product design discussions (his words), which is the part he has always liked the most anyway.

Fresh Money

We raised a Series D! Scott will share all the specifics soon, but in a nutshell, we secured this round to enable us to accelerate to an absolutely eye-watering pace towards our computers for agents vision. We're extremely excited to light the thrusters on this, because we already have the ideal primitives and the team.

A Radioactive Spider Bit Sprites

Sprites just got two new superpowers:

Sprite Block Device (SBD) is a replacement for the JuiceFS filesystem that Sprites used to run. It's an ordinary ext4 disk that's backed by object storage underneath. It improves the stability of auto sleep/wake behavior, and speeds up rolling back to any checkpoint. Most importantly, it's what we needed to start working in earnest on the ability to fork Sprites. Oh, yes: Forking is coming. SBD is in private beta right now, sign up for early access if you dare.

You may have already tried the API gateway if you're an eager Sprites user, but it's now more stable and powerful. To try it, log into the dashboard, hist Sprites in the sidebar nav and then Connectors in the top tab. There you can configure a connection once to GitHub, Slack, OpenRouter, or any HTTP API and then enable that connection to any or all of your Sprites, with granular permissions. The magic is the Sprite never even sees the credentials. The gateway injects the token and proxies the call, so the raw key never lands on the Sprite where an agent (or the code it runs) could read it.
