Hi there,

Here's a roundup of the latest news at Grafana Labs this month, including the Grafana 13.1 release, which adds new observability as code features, extends Grafana Assistant across more of your data, and more.

If you're ready to try some of these and other new features yourself, the easiest way to get started is to sign up for the Grafana Cloud free tier, which includes free forever access to 10k metrics, 50GB logs, 50GB traces, and more.

Grafana 13.1 is here!

Grafana 131 release

Grafana 13.1 builds on the foundation laid by Grafana 13 earlier this year, streamlining the day-to-day workflows teams rely on to visualize, analyze, and act on their data. Here are some of the highlights:

Grafana Assistant across more data sources: Our AI assistant now supports eight additional data sources—Snowflake, Oracle, Elasticsearch, Dynatrace, Honeycomb, Zabbix, Jira, and MongoDB—making it easier to investigate issues across your observability stack using natural language.

Section-level variables: By applying unique variables to each row or tab in a dashboard, you can reduce clutter and improve the overall organization of your dashboards.

A revamped query editor: New bulk actions and a stacked view make it easier to build, edit, and manage complex queries.

Managing dashboards as code: what's new in Git Sync

Git Sync in Grafana

In Grafana 13.1, Git Sync—a feature that brings native GitOps workflows into your Grafana instance—added several features to give teams more flexibility and control when managing their dashboards as code. These include:

Verified (signed) commits: Git Sync can now sign commits with GPG, SSH, or S/MIME keys, enabling compatibility with repositories that require verified commits.

Import into a provisioned folder: Import dashboard JSON directly into a Git Sync-provisioned folder, choosing the file path, branch, commit message, and workflow.

Folderless sync: Sync dashboards at the root level, without a containing folder, so provisioned dashboards can live alongside your non-provisioned ones.

Inline folder README.md: Git Sync–provisioned folders now render their README.md inline by default, so the context for a folder travels with it.

To see a demo of these features, check out our Git Sync video.
