Retatrutide: Is it right for you?

Retatrutide is making headlines for its wow-worthy weight-loss results — and you may be wondering if the medication could be an option for you. While current GLP-1s target one or two hormone pathways, retatrutide targets three involved in appetite and metabolism. Here’s what to know:

The results are promising. In a recent 80-week trial, adults with type 2 diabetes taking the highest dose lost nearly 50 pounds, on average.

The benefits go beyond weight loss. Researchers also found improvements in blood sugar control, reduced knee pain in participants with osteoarthritis, and fewer breathing interruptions in those with sleep apnea.

You can’t get it prescribed yet — but you have options. Retatrutide is still being studied and is not yet FDA-approved. The only safe, legal way to get it is with a clinical trial. But a Midi clinician can prescribe other approved weight-loss medications, including semaglutide and tirzepatide, if appropriate. Book a virtual visit

Q: “Does testosterone really cause more facial hair?”

A: It can, but only a small percent of women experience noticeable changes, and it’s typically a few finer, darker hairs. When it comes to minimizing side effects like facial hair, acne, and scalp hair thinning, your testosterone dose matters.

At Midi, patients typically start with a low dose that’s intended to keep testosterone within the range normally seen in women before menopause. This approach helps limit the risk of side effects, and if patients start to notice anything, we adjust or stop the treatment. The risk is highest with higher doses and with testosterone pellets, which are not prescribed at Midi.

Knowing what to watch for is important. If you notice acne, new hair growth, or scalp hair thinning, let your clinician know so they can reassess your dose and adjust or stop treatment as needed.
