We just closed the first launch of the AI Developer Certification, and developers showed up for it in force.

I’ve spent years building ways for developers to prove what they can do. This is the one I was most excited to build, and they just proved me right.

The ground shifted under all of us. Everyone has the same AI tools now, so “I use AI” tells you nothing about a developer. What tells you something is whether they can direct it and stand behind what ships.

That judgment is the whole thing this certification measures. And the response left no doubt that developers have been waiting for exactly this.

Until now, the only way to get it was the full program, the deepest version we offer, and it worked.

But the exam, the part that actually proves that judgment, shouldn’t only come in the biggest package. It should be something any developer can go and earn.

So that’s what we’re doing next, and it’s the part I’m most fired up about. We’re opening the certification to everyone, so anyone who wants to prove it can just go and do it. It opens in the coming weeks.
