Hi,

I want to describe a feeling, and you tell me if you know it too.

You're good at this. Genuinely good. It took years, but you got to where you can look at a messy problem and see the whole shape of it, which handful of decisions actually matter and which ninety don't. And lately, pointing AI at your work has been the most fun you've had in ages. On a good day it's a small, fast, tireless team, and you ship things that used to eat a week.

And yet something's a little off, and it took me a while to name it.

From the outside, none of that shows anymore.

Here's what I mean. Give the same AI to you and to someone half as sharp, and the two pull requests come out looking about the same. Clean code, passing tests, a demo that works. The distance between the person who could rebuild the whole thing from memory and the person who couldn't explain a line of it is still enormous. It just stopped showing up in the output.

It reminds me of what happened to photography. The day phone cameras got good, everyone's photos started looking pretty great, which is wonderful, right up until a genuinely brilliant photographer and your uncle at a wedding are both posting shots that look, at a glance, fine. The skill didn't go anywhere. It just got a lot harder to see.

That's where code is now. The floor came up. Everyone's output looks competent, and looking competent used to be exactly how the world could tell you were the real thing.

To be clear, this isn't me grumbling about AI. I wouldn't switch it off if I could, it's the best tool any of us have been handed. It's just that a brilliant tool in everyone's hands raises the average and quietly hides the exceptional. The exceptional is still you. It's just wearing the same outfit as everyone else now.

So the question quietly changed. It stopped being whether you're good, you already know that. It became how anyone else is supposed to know, and that one turns out to have a real answer.

How the Best Developers Grow With AI

That's what I want to spend two hours on, live, and it's the thinking behind our new AI Developer Certification. Here's what we'll get into:

What directing AI looks like at the top end. The workflow, the parallel agents, the judgment calls a genuinely good developer makes without thinking, the kind you almost never get to watch over someone's shoulder.

How to make your judgment visible again. The concrete moves that put it back on the record, in your work, your profile, the way you talk about it, so being good and looking good stop being two different things.

A live round where the calls are yours. Real decisions on screen, you commit to one, and you get an honest read on where you actually stand.

Straight answers, live. The career questions you rarely get a real answer to, asked and answered in the room.

Everyone who comes keeps The AI-Era Developer Playbook, free. The whole thing written down, plus the moves you can start on the same afternoon.
