👋 Hello, Retool community!

Anyone can vibe code an app these days. But vibe-coded apps aren’t production ready—and that’s posing a real governance problem. This month, we’re taking a big step toward solving that: we shipped an MCP server for Retool (now in public beta on cloud), so you can interact with your Retool org directly from AI agents.

And that’s just the beginning. While we’re not quite ready to lift the curtains yet, we’re working on a next-generation Retool building experience designed to generate apps built from anywhere and governed by default. Whether you’re building in Retool or directing your preferred AI coding agent, every app ships production-ready, secure, and governed by default. We’re opening up an early access list—sign up today.

🚀 What’s new

MCP server for Retool—now in public beta

Interact with your Retool org from your AI coding environment. Query connected resources, bulk-invite or audit users, and inspect org configurations from Claude, Cursor, Codex, Kiro, and other agents. App building available soon. Now available on cloud.

Build new React apps directly in Retool or via your preferred AI coding agent. You can also import existing ones. Either way, governance lives in the platform—so every app ships secure and production-ready by default.

Python 3.14 available in Workflows

You can now choose your Python runtime from the Languages & Libraries tab. Select between 3.10 and 3.14. If you upgrade to 3.14, Retool automatically detects any built-in libraries your workflow uses and installs them as custom libraries. Rolling out to cloud now; self-hosted coming in a future release.

Delete workflows via API

You can now delete workflows programmatically using DELETE /api/v2/workflows/{workflowId} in the Retool REST API. Requires a token with workflows:write scope. Standard workflows only—agents and functions not yet supported.

CockroachDB native integration (beta)

Retool now supports CockroachDB as a native resource. Connect your databases and run SQL queries for create, read, update, and delete operations. Available on cloud and Self-hosted Edge 3.371+. Enable it under Beta > Settings.

Google Vertex AI integration

Google Vertex AI is now a native integration available in AI resource queries. Available on cloud instances using updated AI resource management.

Community Champion @JoeyKarczewski kicked things off with a thorough custom component wishlist—kanban boards, timeline views, smarter list components, better PDF support. Some of those wishes? Already in the gallery.

@mitushi14 shared a clean zoom in/out workaround using CSS + temp variables—useful for any team inspecting visual details in the field.

Over on Reddit, the vibe coding conversation got interesting. A Retool product team member jumped in with some news: the Retool MCP Server is now in open beta. Worth reading if you've been wanting to wire an AI agent more directly into your workflow.

Also on Reddit: someone's doing a genuine Retool vs PowerBI evaluation—big data, DAX logic, semantic models, the works. If you've navigated this trade-off firsthand, your take would go a long way.
