AI Lab by ActiveCampaign
Hey John,
We’re often asked some version of the question, “How can I make sure that AI produces stuff that’s…good?”
We know, we know. In the early days of AI, people turned it into a slop cannon, choosing to produce massive amounts of content. That, thankfully, didn’t work. But thoughtful autonomous marketers are using AI to reconsider, remix, repurpose, and remake the original thinking and research done by humans.
In this issue, you’ll see how AI helps an under-resourced local restaurant go toe-to-toe with bigger, better-resourced teams with the right blend of quality and quantity.

June 24th: No one wants to use a slop cannon
Have a killer Q3 campaign? Great! Don’t forget to post to Instagram. And X. And do three short form videos. And hire the skywriter.
(Okay, we’re being facetious on that last one.)
The point is, there are a seemingly endless number of channels and formats you should be publishing to. But, needing it and having time to create it are two very different problems.
In this AI Lab webinar, Sean Blanda shares how our team at AI Lab built a content enrichment engine to solve this problem. Most AI content pipelines produce a lot of slop that looks like content but says nothing worth reading. Sean built something specifically designed to avoid that.
Join our next webinar June 24th, 2026 at 11am CDT about How to build a content engine that extends your thinking (without turning it into a slop cannon)
He’ll walk you through how the team uses AI to extend original work into the formats readers actually need, without sacrificing editorial standards. Join us to see the inputs that make the engine work, the mistakes we made along the way, and the first moves you can make to build your own version.

It’s time to up your prompting game
Pam Covarrubias ran her first ever Black Friday campaign completely solo, writing 18 emails in a single week, analyzing her own results like a data analyst, and finishing a campaign she almost quit midway through, all because of a 142-page Google Doc she spent three months building and is still actively adding to.
"The result of your delegation is as good as the quality of your instructions."
That document is the foundation of a system that lets her hand AI real context instead of starting from scratch every single time. A few things worth stealing from how she operates:
Front-load the work, coast on the backend. Pam sometimes spends 20 minutes crafting a single prompt, and that upfront investment gets her 75 to 80% of the way to a finished piece before she edits a single word.
Treat your super prompt like onboarding a new hire. Her doc includes her coaching methodologies, ideal client profile, podcast transcripts, writing samples, and a running list of marketing tactics she'd never touch, so by the time she says "let's run a Black Friday campaign," AI already knows her full tech stack and she can skip straight to building.
Let AI be the pragmatist in the room. After the campaign wrapped, she fed her ActiveCampaign data into Claude for a debrief, and while her human brain was fixating on unsubscribes, Claude redirected her attention to the people who stayed and what kept them there.
