APIs are the backbone of headless.

Our Delivery Endpoint API, for example, lets you choose any frontend framework – and consume data and content from Magnolia with ease.

However, there are two potential challenges with this approach to query data: the response format and maintenance effort.

If you’re working with several APIs, the response format differs by endpoint. This means that developers have to learn each endpoint’s unique response format before processing the data.

REST endpoints also require maintenance. You have to update the endpoint every time the data model changes. This might require an update of the code that consumes its content, too.

GraphQL offers a solution for both of these challenges. 👇

It’s a smarter way of querying data. By providing access to all data in its registry, GraphQL eliminates the need for endpoint configuration – which makes software development a lot faster.
