Hey there,
In case you missed it, returning users can now sign in to mobile apps with device biometrics, plus Clerk Billing now supports discounts and promo codes. This cycle also brings custom OAuth scopes for MCP clients and more.
Bring biometric sign-in to your mobile apps
Returning users can now sign in to Expo, iOS, and Android apps with Face ID, Touch ID, or Android biometrics. After a user authenticates, they can enroll the current app installation as a trusted device so they can return without repeating their original sign-in method. The private key stays on the device. You can add the experience through Clerk’s prebuilt views or trusted-device APIs.

Run promotions with discounts and promo codes
Clerk Billing now supports reusable percentage and fixed-amount discounts for a single billing cycle, a set number of cycles, or indefinitely. Apply a discount directly to an active subscription from the Dashboard, or publish a promo code customers can redeem at checkout. You can limit total redemptions, restrict codes to new subscribers, and track usage from the Dashboard.

Give OAuth clients precisely scoped access
Define custom OAuth scopes in the Clerk Dashboard to match the actions and resources your API supports. Assign each OAuth application only the scopes it needs, then choose which scopes Clerk advertises through OAuth metadata so MCP clients can discover what’s available. Your API can enforce that access by verifying each OAuth token and checking its granted scopes.

RenderATL kickoff night
Clerk kicked off RenderATL on August 13 with a happy hour inside the Formula One racing simulator lounge at The Interlock. Builders and founders raced on the simulators, connected over what they’re building, and picked up Clerk jerseys and swag along the way. We also took the stage at the Commit Awards, and loved spending time with Atlanta’s developer community.
Clerk’s CLI: Add auth to Next.js without leaving your terminal
Hamed Bahram puts the Clerk CLI through its paces by initializing authentication in a Next.js app, installing agent skills, and handing webhook setup to Claude Code. He also shows how clerk webhooks listen creates a relay tunnel for local testing without reaching for ngrok.
