One thing I've learned from building Internxt is that almost everyone says they care about privacy.
Far fewer companies are willing to build products that actually respect it.
Privacy has become a marketing term. You'll find it on landing pages, ads, app stores, and investor decks.
But real privacy is expensive. Sometimes painfully expensive.
It requires technical and business decisions that many companies simply don't want to make, because those decisions often conflict with how those businesses make money.
Now that Internxt has passed 1 million users, I wanted to share three lessons we've learned along the way.
Privacy means giving up control
Internxt uses zero-knowledge encryption. This means your files are encrypted before they leave your device and only you hold the keys.
Nobody can access your files. Not hackers. Not governments. Not Internxt.
If you lose your password, we can't recover your encrypted files. Some people see that as a limitation. We see it as proof that the system works.
Transparency can be uncomfortable
Internxt is open source. Anyone can inspect our code, review our architecture, and verify what we say.
It also means our work is permanently visible — every line, every update, every decision.
Most companies prefer closed systems because they let them control the narrative. We chose transparency because trust should be verifiable.
Privacy requires a different business model
We don't sell data. We don't run ads. We don't license anonymised analytics to third parties.
The math has to work on people paying for a product, full stop.
That's why we have Lifetime plans — we'd rather build a long relationship with you once than charge you every year indefinitely.
One payment. Yours forever: 1 TB on the Essential plan, 3 TB on Premium, or 5 TB on Ultimate.
Companies like Prosegur have done their own due diligence and chosen Internxt. That kind of verification doesn't depend on you trusting us. It depends on you checking.
See Lifetime plans
The privacy we offer is real, visible in our code and in our business model.
It doesn't depend on you taking our word for it. You can verify it yourself.
