Temporal
This month, the Rust SDK and Standalone Activities are Generally Available, with new ways to autoscale Workers and manage Temporal Cloud from the CLI. We’ve also got fresh design patterns, a story from the field, community answers, and events around the world. Oh, and we
raised $550 million at a $12.55 billion valuation.
Temporal Cloud now has no monthly base fee. Start small or scale up with pay-as-you-go pricing, no minimums, and no features locked behind plan upgrades. Get $150 in credits for your first 90 days and
start building for free.
Standalone Activities are now generally available, giving you a durable way to run background jobs without writing a Workflow. Try the interactive demo to configure an Activity, simulate failures, and see how retries and timeouts work.
Worker Controller Autoscaling Support lets you use Kubernetes HPA or KEDA to scale each active Worker version independently, so older versions can drain safely while newer ones scale with demand.
The Temporal Rust SDK is now generally available, bringing production-ready Durable Execution to the Rust ecosystem. Build your first Workflow with the Rust quickstart guide.
Temporal Cloud CLI extension is in Public Preview. Manage Temporal Cloud resources alongside Workflow operations from the temporal CLI. Browser-based login makes it easier to authenticate from the command line.
In this
order processing example, community builder Ivan Cernja combines Temporal and Encore to handle inventory, payment, shipping, and confirmation. Follow the tutorial to see how a durable Workflow retries failed steps and triggers a refund if shipping fails after payment succeeds.
Have a project in mind and wonder how you’d build it with Temporal? Challenge accepted. Suggest it for
Code Exchange, and tell us what you’d like to see.
Patterns for problems you’re solving now
Explore more than 30
Temporal Design Patterns, organized by the problems they solve. For a hands-on starting point, learn how to
move a Celery task to a Standalone Activity, or
use Entity Workflows to track customer loyalty points.
Durable Execution in harsh physical field operations
What happens when a crew’s work outlasts its network connection? In a
guest post from Xgrid, Saman Batool shows how Temporal Cloud helps coordinate shifts, tool sign-outs, and compliance reporting when requests arrive late or out of order.
In Community Slack,
Andy Cooper reported a flood of replication WARN logs when gRPC connections reached max age. Tihomir Surdilovic shared
a related Server change and
replication health playbook, while Qian Chen offered a configuration workaround.
In Discourse, a user
asked how to limit in-flight jobs when Activities call an asynchronous third-party API. The discussion covers durable Workflow counters, Task Queue dispatch limits, heartbeats, and Worker concurrency settings.
