Two email APIs for developers: one adds agent tools and AI drafting, the other cheaper marketing plans.
Choose Resend if your developers send from code with React Email and want an MCP server your agent can send email through.
Choose SendGrid if your app already sends over its API or SMTP and you want the lower marketing price at 5,000 contacts, with A/B testing on every plan.
Choose Brew if you want a fully agentic setup, where your AI agent drives lifecycle marketing to engage and retain customers. Brew designs every email from your brand and runs your automations agentically.
Brew is the third column, for teams that want an agent to design and send their email.

Neither designs a finished, on-brand email. Resend’s MCP server sends HTML your agent writes itself; SendGrid’s editors leave each design to your team.
Both price marketing email on contacts and sell it apart from the email your app sends.
For email sent from your app, Resend Pro is $20/month for 50,000 transactional emails, and SendGrid’s Email API starts at $19.95/month. Resend has a free plan with 3,000 emails a month; SendGrid has a 60-day trial at 100 emails a day.
Marketing email is a separate plan on both, priced by contacts. At 5,000 contacts, SendGrid Basic is from $15/month with 15,000 emails and Resend’s marketing plan from $40/month. SendGrid’s automations start on Advanced, from $60/month for 10,000 contacts.
Brew bills on emails sent and AI credits, with unlimited contacts: Growth is $99/month for 50,000 sends and 10,000 AI credits.
Brew is fully agentic: your agent designs on-brand emails, sends them and runs your automations. Unlimited contacts on every plan. OAuth and organization-scoped MCP connections ask you to confirm live sends and launches. Brand-scoped API keys can execute permitted calls without the MCP confirmation step.
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Grok over MCP and your agent gets every Brew tool. It designs emails from your brand, builds audiences, runs automations and schedules sends. OAuth and organization-scoped MCP connections ask you to confirm live sends and launches. Brand-scoped API keys can execute permitted calls without the MCP confirmation step.
Paste your website and Brew writes your brand into two files your agent reads for every email. Describe the email and it appears on the canvas, ready to edit by hand or in chat.

Both send transactional email from your code over a REST API and SMTP, for about the same entry price: Resend Pro is $20/month for 50,000 emails and SendGrid’s Email API starts at $19.95/month. Resend adds React Email, official SDKs, a CLI and an MCP server your agent can send through. SendGrid suits teams already sending through it, and its Marketing Campaigns add A/B testing on every plan.
For app email they start at about the same price: $20/month on Resend Pro for 50,000 emails, and from $19.95/month for SendGrid’s Email API. For marketing, SendGrid Basic costs less at 5,000 contacts, from $15/month against Resend’s $40/month, but SendGrid’s automations need Advanced, from $60/month for 10,000 contacts. Resend has a free plan; SendGrid a 60-day trial.
Resend. Its MCP server lets your agent send emails and broadcasts and manage contacts and automations, though the agent writes each email’s HTML itself, and its editor’s AI drafts emails on monthly AI credits. Twilio’s hosted MCP server searches documentation, SendGrid’s included, and does not send email, and SendGrid lists no AI features for Marketing Campaigns. Neither designs a finished, on-brand email; Brew does.
Brew, if you want an agent to design and run your email, not only an API to send it. Your agent designs finished, on-brand emails from your brand, sends them and runs your automations, with marketing and app email on one plan and unlimited contacts. Developers can still work in code with Brew’s REST API, typed SDK and CLI. Brew has no signup forms or A/B testing.
Yes. Connect SendGrid in Brew and push any email into SendGrid as a dynamic template, ready for your transactional and marketing sends. With Resend, export any finished Brew email as HTML and send it through Resend’s API, or keep Resend for the transactional email your code sends and run marketing and lifecycle email in Brew.
Brew publishes this comparison. Brew Team reviewed the linked first-party documentation. This is a documentation review, not a claim of hands-on testing of every product. Pricing and plan limits can change.
